Narthex

brings building acoustics to life

Vision

Every building has its own sound, its own soul.

The idea is to bring the soul of different religious buildings to life through improvisation, using the space itself as a source of inspiration.

In addition to singing, various instruments are used for this: organ (if available), accordion and tanpura.

The aim is to let people experience the acoustics of a religious building.

An audiovisual document is created, linking the music to the space.

In this way, connections can also be made between different religious buildings.

Narthex is a collective of sound artists who take you on a stimulating, musical journey to the next destination.

They draw their inspiration from the universal, all-encompassing source of music.
Also called 'musica universalis'.

The improvised journey contains a combination of song, sound, frequencies and instruments.
This forms a portal to bring the soul of space* to life.

*Think of, for example, (religious) buildings, museums and spaces with special acoustics.
